    Jamie's journey from the bottom of the football pyramid to the top has captured the imagination of people from far and wide. Jamie is determined to prove that there are players within the non league game that can follow in his footsteps and step up to the professional game. Jamie will be present throughout the week and be a mentor to the players during their time at the academy. Jamie will also have an active involvement in the recruitment and selection process.

    Rebekah is one of the founders of V9 and will be overseeing marketing and sponsorship for the Academy. Rebekah will be involved with the academy’s day to day operation and provide invaluable support to the Academy’s technical staff to ensure a world class programme is delivered.

    John works as a licensed Intermediary for Key Sports Management and is a co-founder of the V9 Academy. He has represented Jamie Vardy for over 6 years and famously quoted that ‘Vardy would play for England’ during his Evo-Stick Premier league promotion winning season for Halifax. John is an experienced intermediary and has a strong stable of Premier League and Championship players and managers alike. John is responsible for overseeing V9 operations, in particular talent ID and recruitment.
  • Project Leader & Head of Recruitment

    Lee is a Senior Lecturer in Sport Development and Sport & Social Sciences at Leeds Beckett University who has been given time away from his role in Higher Education to work as Project Leader and Head of Recruitment at the V9 Academy. He has experience of playing football at various levels, starting out as a young professional with Middlesbrough FC before moving on to Darlington. Similar to Jamie Vardy, Lee suffered setbacks getting released from both clubs therefore having great empathy with many of the players looking to get back into the professional arena through the V9 Academy. Lee had a brief spell playing professionally in Singapore whilst he also played at steps 7-9 with Bishop Auckland, Spennymoor Town and Guisborough Town. He coached in Middlesbrough FC’s highly regarded Academy between 1995 and 2002 working with future professionals such as Stewart Downing, Tony McMahon, James Morrison and David Murphy. Lee has continued his involvement in football helping to manage various non-league teams in the North East alongside his full time role at Leeds Beckett. Lee will be coordinating our recruitment and five day programme through working alongside our talented scouts and coaching staff. ​
  • Head of Performance

    Having graduated from Loughborough with a Sport and Exercise Science degree, Matt’s seven-year career in professional football has consisted of two spells at Leicester City, a period working at Hull City and more recently he has also provided support for the England Youth teams. He has developed a very good understanding of the physical demands placed on professional footballers throughout the leagues, having worked in League 1, the Championship and the Premier League. As the current Head of Fitness and Conditioning at Leicester City, he is tasked with improving fitness and physical preparation whilst reducing injury risk. He has a strong interest in load monitoring and works closely with the coaching staff to plan training.

    Dr. Neal Bowes, Ph.D. CC-AASP is a highly qualified and successful performance psychologist with over 25 years of world-class experience. He has worked with players in the Premier League, Championship & Scottish Premier League and prepared athletes across many sports for Olympic Games, World and European Championships. Neal played as a schoolboy for Mansfield Town FC, and represented England Universities in addition to being a qualified FA coach. Neal’s experience gives him a unique insight into the demands of the game and he has a proven track record of achieving significant performance changes for both individuals and teams at the highest level.
  • Head of Sports Science

    After initially obtaining a degree in Sports Science from the University of Surrey, Dave re-trained in Physiotherapy and graduated from the University of Nottingham with first class honours in 1994. He worked at the Leicester Royal Infirmary before moving to the Derby Gait Analysis Laboratory in 1998. During his time at both institutions he was able to specialise in sport – working with the Leicester Tigers and the English Schools Badminton Association. He joined Leicester City in 1999 and became Head Physiotherapist a year later. Dave is responsible for the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of all professional players at the club. He is currently studying for his PhD investigating the effect that pitches have upon players, injury and performance.
